AFTER FIELDING a single entry in the 2016 race, German Porsche team Pro Sport Performance has confirmed a return to Mount Panorama with two cars for the 2017 running of the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Based within the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany, Pro Sport will return to Bathurst with a pair of their Cayman PRO 4 GT4 specification entries in the burgeoning ‘baby GT’ class next February 3-5.

The team made their Bathurst debut this year and despite failing to finish the race following a crash on lap 92, are keen to return to the iconic circuit for a second crack at Bathurst success.

“We are really happy to come back to Mount Panorama. 2016 was a big adventure for us and despite the crash we had, all of us enjoyed the trip,” said Team Manager Steve Buschmann.

“We were the only car on the grid in GT4 this year but after we were told there are already several GT4 entries for next year we discussed it and decided to enter two cars of ours.

“Currently we are leading the GT4 European Championship with two of our Porsche Cayman PRO4s with one round to go next weekend at Zandvoort. The GT4 class became really big this year in Europe due to the entry of several manufacturers, and will grow next year.

“It would be great to be part of a GT4 boom as it arrives in Australia.”

Pro Sport Performance are the second confirmed entries in the GT4 class, joining Miedecke Stone Motorsport’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 announced last week alongside their pair of GT3 entries.

The German team are hugely experienced long-distance experts with more than six wins in the Nurburgring-based VLN Endurance series. The team has also twice won its class in the Nurburgring 24 Hour and was the first to do so with the popular Porsche Cayman model.

The ‘Baby GT’ class is expected to front with a strong field this year as the GT4 category gains momentum around the world.

Six cars have already been entered in the class with more expected ahead of the race next year.

The 2017 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour will be held across the 3-5 February weekend at Mount Panorama.
