LIQUI-MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour organisers are pleased to announce Pirelli as the official exclusive tyre supplier of the 2017 event, to be held at Mount Panorama on 3-5 February 2017.

After achieving their maiden victory this year while supporting the factory-backed TEKNO Autosport McLaren team, the famous Italian brand will exclusively supply tyres for the entire field in 2017 in what will be the first of a three-year agreement with Australia’s International Endurance race.

Pirelli enjoys an exclusive relationship with more than 50 racing series worldwide, including the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Blancpain GT Series and both the Australian GT and Australian Endurance Championships.

The slick tyres used for GT racing are branded P Zero: just like the slicks that have become a central feature of Formula One. The name P Zero is used in the highest categories of motorsport such as GT racing.

“With Pirelli’s focus on prestige, Bathurst is an important place for us to be as one of the most famous names in motorsport,” said Pirelli Motorsport Director, Paul Hembery.

“It’s also close to the population centre of Sydney, which plays an important part in the driving culture of Australia, and where we are planning to expand our presence. Winning last year proved the value and exposure of the Bathurst 12 Hours for us, and we look forward to capitalising upon our engagement in 2017, equipping some of the best-known sports car manufacturers in the world on this truly spectacular circuit.”

Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour Event Director John Casey welcomed Pirelli to the ever-growing 12-Hour event.

“We are very pleased to welcome Pirelli to the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour as the exclusive tyre supplier from 2017,” he said.

“Pirelli has an incredible track record in the sport both around the world and here in Australia, where they have supported the Australian GT scene for several years.

“Off the back of their first Bathurst 12 Hour victory in February this year, we are looking forward to working with Pirelli in 2017 and the future as their P Zero tyres supply the entire field of world-class GT cars and drivers.”
