MORE than $74,000 has been raised by the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour’s bushfire relief efforts, in conjunction with the Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie.

All proceeds to be donated to the Australian Lions Foundation Bushfire appeal to support those affected by the bushfires that have been burning since last November.

The remarkable response to the campaign, launched prior to this year’s event, includes substantial donations from SRO – promoters of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli – and Motor Active, the major sponsor of the event.

After SRO committed $25,200 to the cause – based on $5 per lap completed in the race by Intercontinental GT Challenge entries - that figure was matched last week by Motor Active to take the total to over $50,000.

Bentley Team M-Sport’s impromptu sale of damaged bodywork and components behind their garage during the race last week is estimated to have raised more than $4,000, while $10,000 of cash donations at the circuit and online via the GoFundMe page took helped the total rise to the remarkable final tally.

The Bathurst 12 Hour thanks everyone who donated for their remarkable support, especially SRO, Bentley Team M-Sport and Motor Active.

KURT SAKZEWSKI – EVENT DIRECTOR

“This is a fantastic outcome and we’re proud of the efforts that have gone into this campaign, in conjunction with our official event charity and the broader Australian Lions Bushfire appeal.

“The generosity of SRO and Motor Active is remarkable and showcases not only their support for the event, but the broader community of which it is a big part each January and February.

“It was a great show of spirit and generosity to see the Bentley Team M-Sport auctioning off the damaged parts from their Saturday crash to add to the funds raised for this great cause – The team ended up having a great weekend on and off the track in 2020.

“The generous support of event attendees who donated to Lions Club volunteers allowed us to reach the final total, which we hope will be a significant support to those who need it most.”

About The Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie

The Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie Inc is the OFFICIAL CHARITY for the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour being held from 31 January – 2 February 2020.

EVERY dollar raised will go to the Australian Lions Foundation National Bushfire Appeal for funds to be distributed to bushfire affected communities and wildlife.

Household items such as water tanks, whitegoods, furniture, linen and shopping vouchers will be supplied.

LIONS prides itself on donating 100% of public donated funds to the cause, without any overheads as LIONS is purely an organisation of dedicated volunteers.

Cash donations will be collected from fans on ground at the event by LIONS volunteers and added to this page, while Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour teams and drivers will be pledging donations throughout the event.

Thank you for your support in helping communities and wildlife rebuild from the catastrophic bushfires that have been burning across Eastern Australia since November 2019.
