The KCMG Nissan squad felt the full range of emotions after Josh Burdon went fastest in the opening practice session for the 2020 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour before ending the session early thanks to a crash leading up to Reid Park.
Tasmanian Burdon went wide on the approach to Reid Park, ending up in the outside concrete wall, plucking a wheel off the KCMG #35 Nissan and calling an early end to the session.
In the session held for all drivers bar the Class A entrants with Platinum or Gold licences, Burdon became the first driver into the 2:06's early in the session with a time of 2:06.5531 halfway through the outing, putting the #35 to the top of the order where it stayed until the conclusion of the 30 minute hitout.
Burdon's time stood at the top of the timesheets throughout the session, over a second clear of Brenton Grove's #4 Porsche GT3 R and the #777 Mercedes AMG GT3 entry of Yasser Shahin, the only two other drivers to go below a 2:08.
With crews working to clean up the track, the second practice session, scheduled for all drivers from all classes, will get underway shortly.
