CRAFT-BAMBOO Racing will return to the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour next February, locking in at least one Mercedes-AMG GT3 entry in the outright class for the 2020 race. 

The Mercedes-AMG team has also confirmed the potential of a second a second entry, with plans to be locked in at a later date.

The team returned to Mount Panorama in February this year, launching their new relationship with Mercedes-AMG in Australia’s International Enduro.

With Maro Engel, Gary Paffett and Luca Stolz sharing the driving duties the car qualified second and ran strongly throughout, leading for several hours before contact in the seventh hour led to a technical issue that forced the car out of the race, having completed 185 laps.

The team has since built on their Mercedes-AMG relationship since their Bathurst campaign, fighting at the front of the Suzuka 10 Hours Intercontinental GT Challenge race for the duration before narrowly missing out on a podium finish in the closing stages.

The Hong Kong-based team is yet to confirm their driving squad, however said they expect it to be comprised of factory Mercedes-AMG drivers once again.

Craft-Bamboo has a strong history of fielding competitive machinery at Bathurst, finishing third outright in the thrilling 2015 race.

"The Bathurst 12 Hour gets more competitive each year, with top teams from around the world coming to Mount Panorama to take on this amazing circuit," said Craft-Bamboo Racing director and double 12-Hour winner Darryl O'Young.

"There is a big strategy game in this race, so it keeps the drivers, engineers, and crew on their toes for the entire 12 hours, which makes it really challenging yet exciting throughout. We expect nothing less in 2020, and after a full season with the Mercedes-AMG GT3, we are confident we have a strong package to fight for the win.

"The organizers do a fantastic job, so it is a race we look forward to and make a priority in our racing calendar each year."

The 2020 race commences with practice on 31 January 2020 with the race itself to be contested in Sunday, 2 February.
