2019 marks the fifth running of Combined Sedans at Mount Panorama and it is the second year in a row that this category has been sponsored by Rusty French and his quarry business, Skye Sands.

As always the grid  is an impressive one, being 55 cars, including top level Spaceframe and Chassis Sports Sedans, racing up against the genuine V8 Touring Cars of past eras and a larger than last year’s number of TA2 machines, all vying for the top honours.

Racing legend and Tickford Racing co-owner Rusty French will be among those in the US-sourced TA2 cars, racing his distinctive black and gold Mustang.

He will he joined by Texan, Gar Robinson who returns to the Mountain after a fantastic debut in 2018, no doubt with plans to topple the Spaceframe Sports Sedans and V8 Touring cars he battled with last year at the pointy end of the field.

There will be fourteen TA2 cars in total on the grid, with relative new comers to the class, Aaron Seton and Andrew Miedecke keen to show the seasoned racers what these purpose built race cars can really do at Bathurst.

Defending Spaceframe class winner Steven Lacey has also confirmed his return in his thundering Chevrolet Camaro Sports Sedan. The New South Wales based driver has targeted his intention to topple his own Sports Sedan lap record of  2 minutes 10.99 seconds, established on the last lap of Race 2 in 2018, being no mean feat, given he started the race from the rear of grid. That said, he’s sure the Spaceframe corvette of Paul Boschert will be right there to keep him honest.

The variety of cars competing this year include Scott Dean in his Mercedes A45 AMG through to Mark Duggan in his fire breathing Spaceframe Aston Martin DBR, giving race fans plenty to cheer for no matter which marquee you support.

This year the grid will also include three Marc Cars driven by Geoff Taunton, Tony Groves and Bradley Neill which are sure to be up the front and why wouldn’t they be, given they’re V8 powered Mazda 3 and Ford Focus based cars.

Steven, who is also the joint Category Manager with his wife Bronwyn, said: “Competition within the four Classes within Combined Sedans will be fiercer than ever for 2019 as the quality of competitors continues to grow.

“It’s with the support of the team at Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour as the event promoter and CAMS that the Australian Sports Sedan Association of NSW is able to give drivers from vastly different Classes the experience of a life time, racing at Mount Panorama Bathurst."
