THE 2026 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour is likely to be trimmed before race day after an accident at the end of Friday’s running.
Graeme Dowsett's Team NZ Aston Martin Vantage GT4 hit the wall at Reid Park after contact with Alfred Renauer's #61 Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911.
The nose of the Porsche was slightly ahead, and contact sent the #7 entry into a slide and towards the concrete wall.
Dowsett walked away from his damaged car under his own steam, but whether his damaged Vantage can be repaired remains unclear.
After the car returned to the paddock, scrutineers looked over the Aston before it was moved into the garage, where it was placed under a tarpaulin.
The Team NZ car was one of two GT4 entries in the 2026 race, along with the #42 Method Motorsport McLaren.
Driver-owner Dowsett was entered in the #7 entry alongside Aston Martin junior Romain Leroux and Chris Van Der Drift.
Kenny Habul, meanwhile, topped the session in the #75 Mercedes-AMG.
Track action on Saturday commences with Practice 5 at 8:05am local time.
